Math Formulas
Remembering and applying math formulas
There are many types of math, including algebra,
business math, calculus, general math, geometry, and trigonometry,
to name a few. Math formulas are the foundation for all of
these math subjects; therefore, it is critical to understand
math formulas and their applications to learn each subject
successfully.
Different types of math formulas are used in different grades
of learning. When your child is young, he or she should be
taught general math and it is critical that they remember
and apply basic math formulas such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division. Play games with your child to
help reinforce these math formulas. Problems like adding two
apples to three or removing two apples from four will help
them realize how math formulas work and how to apply them.
This will prepare your child for more advanced formulas when
they are introduced to them in higher grades.
As your child progresses in school, algebra and geometry
are some of the math subjects that are taught. Algebra requires
knowing how to use different operators, understanding the
meaning of the equals sign, the significance of the number
zero, and other advanced mathematical concepts. Geometry uses
math formulas to analyze characteristics and properties of
two- and three-dimensional geometric shapes- the volume of
a container, the perimeter of an object, etc. Learning algebra
and geometry is important because these subjects are applied
in everyday life and are utilized in the workforce.
As your child begins college preparatory work in high school,
he or she will begin to think about potential career opportunities.
If your child is considering a career in engineering, learning
differential and integral calculus are essential skills. Math
formulas help in solving very complex problems that would
be almost impossible to solve in any other way. By being an
involved parent you will have provided your child with the
infrastructure and basic math knowledge to grasp more difficult
math formulas.
